IMPORTANT PSLE 2025 ORAL CHANGES

Starting in 2025, the PSLE English Oral component will carry 40 marks (up from 30 marks), contributing 20% of the total English score.

The Reading Aloud section will now carry 15 marks, up from the previous 10 marks.

A preamble outlining the Purpose, Audience, and Context (PAC) will precede the passage.

The Stimulus-based Conversation section will carry 25 marks, up from 20 marks.

This additional 10 marks can make a significant difference in your child’s Achievement Level (AL). For example:

  • A 10-mark improvement could easily boost a student from AL5 to AL4 (65-75)

  • A stronger performance could even result in a 2 AL jump from AL4 to AL2 (75-85)

Given that Oral is the most scoring-efficient component of the English exam, mastering it can have a huge impact on overall results. To support your child excel in this key area, we are offering English Oral Workshop for P5 & P6 students in April - August 2025.

The programme of this workshop is designed based on the new oral format and aimed to equip the students with oral skills, practising structure responses and developing effective speaking techniques. Our structured approach will ensure they gain confidence and skills needed to maximise their Oral marks.
